Behavior
Our primary responsibility in choir is to learn about music. Any behavior that distracts from or interferes with this learning process will not be permitted. Quiet attention to the teacher, remaining in your seat during the class period, and following directions are naturally expected of you in choir just as they are in you other classes. All CVMS Rules and Policies outlined in the Student Handbook will be strictly enforced.
Infractions of the rules and/or disruption of the class will result in an attempt to help you adjust your behavior. This will first take the form of a conference between you and the director. After that point, the director will follow the school discipline procedure and call home to discuss the problem with the parent/guardian. If the situation continues to be a problem, you will not be allowed an opportunity to continue in a performing arts class and will be removed.
*Please understand that the music building is a “Foul Language Free Zone.” Foul language (including, but not limited to cursing or any derogatory remark made to any other person) will not be tolerated at all.
You should understand that the director and the administration will make every reasonable effort to help you adjust your behavior. It is the goal of the director and the school administration to help each student be as successful as possible in the choir program. However, when the attention required by a single student interferes with the learning experience for the entire group, the individual will have to be removed from the class for the good of the other students.
